Rowing
The Scots College Rowing Programme offers Senior School boys and girls the opportunity to excel in one of New Zealand’s most iconic sports.
Our Rowing Club is expertly led by Dan de Groot, who excelled in high school rowing in his home country of Canada, winning multiple national championships and earning international medals for Canada. Dan carries out the bulk of coaching at Scots College, and is assisted by a part time assistant coach.
We offer a "Learn to Row" programme, as well as Summer and Winter rowing programmes for students with rowing experience.
With training camps, competitions around the country, and a season climaxing in the prestigious Maadi Cup, rowing at Scots fosters discipline, teamwork, and athletic growth.
The Club attends the annual Christmas Regatta on Lake Karapiro, a highlight on any rower's calendar. The team made a strong showing at the 2024 Christmas Regatta, with three A-Finals and two B-Finals. The team’s success is underpinned by the exceptional leadership of the team captains, whose guidance inspires their teammates, and the unwavering support of parents, whose contributions are invaluable to the programme.
