Floorball
Floorball is a dynamic and fast-paced type of indoor hockey, and has rapidly gained popularity at Scots College. With teams spanning most year groups, this exciting sport offers students an excellent way to stay active and build skills during the summer months.
Played with five field players and a goalkeeper per team, floorball is a relatively new addition to the New Zealand sports scene. Scots College participates in Wellington’s highly competitive leagues, hosted at the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Terms 1 and 4.
In 2024, Scots College proudly fielded 14 floorball teams, reflecting the sport's growing appeal within the school community. Teams have shown strong performances, with Term 1 featuring particularly competitive outings across the leagues. A highlight of the year was Year 13 student Luka Strode-Penney’s selection for the Under 19 New Zealand team, representing the country at the World Championships. This achievement underscores the potential for Scots players to excel on both local and international stages.
Scots College has players from most year groups playing in the league, which is played at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Term 1 and Term 4.
