Board of Governors
The governing body of the College is the Board of Governors, appointed annually, which is chaired by Mr Steven McJorrow. On it are representatives of the Presbytery, Scots Collegians’ Association, and the Parents’ Association, with other members nominated by the Board.
It is responsible for all aspects of the College’s operations and for:
- monitoring the College finances;
- ensuring the College has a sound future; and
- development of new projects for the College.
Steven McJorrow – Board Chair
Steven joined the Board of Governors in 2018. Steven is a Scots Collegian, attending the College from 1976 to 1982, and has one son who has attended the College. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and CA member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand.
Hamish Plimmer – Deputy Chair
Hamish joined the Board of Governors in 2017. He has two sons currently attending and one son that has attended the College. Hamish is a CA member of the Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand, and of the Institute of Directors.
Jono Bushell
Jono joined the Scots College Board in 2022. He attended the College from 1981 to 1983, and is a member of the Collegians Association Executive. Jono has one son attending the College and another son who completed Year 13 in 2021, with three years in the Boarding House. Jono has significant experience as a Director/Manager and Shareholder in a range of enterprises in Blenheim, Port Vila, Dan Chang, and Wellington.
Lisa Futschek
Lisa joined the Scots College Board in 2022. Lisa has had one son and one daughter who have attended the College. A former career diplomat, Lisa understands New Zealand’s place in the world and is accomplished at working with international government and industry partners. Lisa is currently CEO of Seafood New Zealand. She has also been a member of the Parents' Association since 2015.
Aliesia Gartrell
Aliesia joined the Board of Governors in 2019. She has one son currently attending the College. Aliesia is a member of the Institute of Directors, a former member of the Financial Services Council Code Disciplinary Committee, and 2019/2020 cohort of the Directors of Mentoring for Diversity programme.
Jo Healey
Jo joined the Board of Governors in 2018. She is a member of the Campus Development Committee and has two sons currently attending the College and one son that has attended the College. Jo is a member of The Wellington Club, Chair/President of Business Central, and Council Member of Business NZ.
Allister Lane
Allister is the Senior Minister St John’s in the City and the Presbytery representative. He joined the Board of Governors at Scots College in 2023, and also holds positions as President, BGI; President, Victoria House; Member, Presbytery Council; and Member, Presbyterian Church Schools Resource Office Advisory Group.
Matthew Needham
Matthew joined the Scots College Board in 2021. He has one son who attended Scots College. Matthew was a finalist in the CFO of the Year Awards in 2020, 2021, and 2022. He has extensive senior leadership experience both in New Zealand and the UK, and is a past Chair of the Council of Presidents and Past President of the New Zealand Divisional of the Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia. He is a member of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand, and holds accreditations including FCPA, FCMA and MCIPS.
Ryhan Prasad
Ryhan joined the Board of Governors in 2013. He is a Presbytery representative on the Board.
Paul Ridley-Smith
Paul joined the Scots College Board in 2022. He attended Scots from 1974 through 1978. Paul is currently chair of Manawa Energy and a director of Arvida Group. He has been a trustee of the Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts, and of the James Wallace Arts Trust.
Victor Vasefanua Junior Vito
Victor joined the Board of Governors in 2023, bringing with him a wealth of sporting credentials and accolades, including European Cup Champion 2022, Super Rugby Champion 2016, and Double Rugby World Cup Winner 2011 and 2015. Victor is currently a High Performance Consultant / Rugby Ambassador Agence Derby RWC 2023, and attended Scots College from 1996-2004.
Future Governors
Matt Strawbridge
Matt joined the Board of Governors as a Future Governor in 2024. He attended Scots College from 2006 through 2016, and is the Founder and former CEO of the organisations Dyslexia Potential and Peoply.
Amarind Eng
Amarind joined the Board of Governors as a Future Governor in 2024. He attended Scots College from 2001 through 2014, and is a Litigation Solicitor at Simpson Grierson. Amarind is a New Zealand Young Asian Lawyer of the Year 2024 finalist, currently the Chair of the Advisory Group for the New Zealand Asian Legal Network, and is a Leadership Network Member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation.
